Value-focused ecommerce platform Snapdeal has joined YouTube Shopping’s affiliate programme in India, opening a new creator-led discovery channel for its products. Eligible creators will be able to feature and tag Snapdeal products across YouTube videos, Shorts and livestreams, earning affiliate commissions when qualifying purchases result from their recommendations. Google says the expanded retail partnerships, including Snapdeal, are being rolled out in India.
For viewers, the integration connects product recommendations more closely with the shopping journey. Rather than seeing a product in a creator’s video and manually searching for it later, viewers can access tagged items directly from the content and continue toward the retailer. For Snapdeal, that gives sellers another customer-acquisition channel outside the marketplace’s traditional search and advertising surfaces.
The partnership is particularly relevant to Snapdeal’s value-commerce positioning. The company says more than 80% of its orders come from non-metro markets, while a majority of products on the platform are priced below ₹599. That could make creator-led formats useful for categories such as affordable fashion and lifestyle products, where demonstrations, styling videos and recommendations can influence discovery.
YouTube is also scaling the commerce infrastructure around these recommendations. Google says more than half of eligible Indian creators are enrolled in YouTube Shopping, while active participation has risen 200% year over year and more than 19 million videos have been tagged with affiliate products since the programme launched in India. The company also says more than 450 million logged-in users in India conducted shopping-related searches on YouTube in June 2026. These are YouTube-reported platform metrics.
The bigger question for Snapdeal will be whether creator traffic converts into repeat customers rather than one-off affiliate purchases. The integration gives the marketplace broader distribution and gives creators a larger catalogue to monetise, but its commercial impact will depend on product relevance, creator-audience fit, commission economics and conversion after viewers move from content to checkout.
