Actor Ranbir Kapoor has entered India’s FMCG market as founder of Flux Theory, a new shower-care brand created with co-founder Advay Jhunjhunwala and venture-building platform Think9. Launched in Mumbai, the company is starting with five body washes positioned around different personalities, fragrances and skincare needs rather than competing only on traditional cleansing benefits.
The first collection includes Sage, Sport, Lover, Dreamer and Rebel. Sage is positioned around deep cleansing, Rebel around exfoliation, Dreamer around hydration, Sport around detan and Lover around glow. Fragrance profiles across the portfolio include bergamot, mint, santal, leather and oud. Kapoor has been involved in the proposition, product experience, creative direction and visual identity since the brand’s development stage.
Flux Theory’s central bet is that body wash can be marketed as an expression of mood and personality as well as a functional personal-care product. The company is targeting both existing body-wash buyers and consumers still using more traditional formats. Research cited at launch said 65% of Indians were not using body wash in 2024, suggesting substantial headroom if brands can persuade more consumers to switch formats.
The opportunity sits inside a sizeable category. According to Euromonitor data cited by the company, India’s bath and shower market grew 4% in value during 2025 to ₹35,370 crore in retail sales. Flux Theory is launching with an omnichannel strategy and is already available through its own website as well as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tira, Zepto and Instamart.
Celebrity association can generate initial attention, but Flux Theory’s longer-term test will be more conventional FMCG economics: product differentiation, distribution, repeat purchases and the ability to move consumers from soap or existing body-wash brands. The company says it plans to expand both its product portfolio and retail presence across the wider shower and personal-care category.
