IIT Bombay-incubated spacetech startup InspeCity has raised ₹100 crore, or around $10.5 million, in a pre-Series A round co-led by Speciale Invest and investor Ashish Kacholia. Antler Elevate, Antler India, Manish Gandhi and Shastra VC also participated in the round.
The Mumbai-based company plans to use the fresh capital for flight qualification of its technologies and to scale commercial activities. The round follows a $5.6 million seed raise in May 2025 and an earlier $1.5 million pre-seed round, giving InspeCity more capital as it moves closer to demonstrating its technology in orbit.
Founded in 2022 by Arindrajit Chowdhury, InspeCity is developing technologies for in-space servicing, assembly and manufacturing. Its larger goal is to extend the operating life of satellites while also addressing the growing problem of space debris. At the centre of its roadmap is VEDA, an autonomous servicing architecture designed for satellite life extension and more advanced orbital operations.
The startup is building several technologies around this system, covering spacecraft propulsion, AI-enabled satellite tracking, robotic manipulation, autonomous docking and in-orbit refuelling. Together, these capabilities are intended to allow future spacecraft to inspect, approach, service and eventually maintain satellites without bringing them back to Earth.
Over the next 12 to 18 months, InspeCity plans to execute four in-orbit missions to validate these technologies across propulsion, sensing, robotics, docking and refuelling. The fundraise comes as India’s private spacetech ecosystem attracts increasing investor interest, with companies such as Skyroot Aerospace, Digantara, EtherealX and Bellatrix Aerospace also raising sizeable rounds. For InspeCity, the next test is moving its technology from engineering labs into real orbital missions — a step that could position it within the emerging global market for satellite servicing and space sustainability.
