Google Picks Four Indian Startups for AI for the Planet Accelerator

The three-month programme began with a hands-on bootcamp in Singapore and will give participants access to Google’s latest AI stack, specialised technical support and mentorship. Teams will be able to work with frontier models including AnthroKrishi, ForestCast, AlphaEarth Foundations, SpeciesNet and Perch as they develop and scale their environmental solutions.

India’s selected companies cover different parts of the climate-tech stack. Terrastack combines satellite and agronomic data to generate plot-level land intelligence for smallholder farmers. Varaha Climate uses remote sensing and AI to verify regenerative agriculture and carbon- removal projects, helping farmers participate in carbon markets.

Farmers for Forests is using AI-enabled drones to make agroforestry, carbon outcomes and biodiversity improvements measurable at scale. Climitra Carbon, meanwhile, is applying Geo- AI to verify the removal of invasive plant species and convert that biomass into biochar, combining ecosystem restoration with carbon removal.

The accelerator forms part of Google’s broader sustainability push in India, which also spans climate-smart agriculture, clean energy and AI-powered solar mapping. The company is scaling its Solar API across more than 300 million Indian rooftops and recently announced a long-term carbon-credit agreement with Mitti Labs. For the four selected startups, the accelerator offers something beyond capital: access to advanced AI infrastructure and domain expertise that could help move climate solutions from promising pilots toward much larger deployments.
