Lenskart has increased its stake in extended-reality startup AjnaLens to 9.01%, deepening itsb push into AI-powered smart eyewear. The omnichannel eyewear company invested another ₹8 crore to acquire an additional 1.8% stake in AjnaLens parent Dimension NXG, up from 7.21% earlier.
This is Lenskart’s third additional investment in the startup this year. It bought another 0.68% in February and 1.69% in July, taking the cumulative increase across the three transactions to 4.17 percentage points. Lenskart’s total consideration for these acquisitions stands at ₹18.5v crore, with its holding rising from 4.84% to the current 9.01%.
Lenskart first backed AjnaLens last year as part of an effort to develop AI-powered smart glasses. The partnership brings together Lenskart’s capabilities in frame design and engineering with AjnaLens’ expertise in XR hardware and software. Founded in 2014, AjnaLens builds immersive technology solutions for sectors including enterprise, learning and defence.
The investment fits into Lenskart’s broader attempt to move eyewear beyond vision correction and fashion. The company has already launched its Phonic audio glasses, is working on AI- powered smart glasses and has partnered with Qualcomm on its smart-glasses technology stack. Its B by Lenskart smart glasses had attracted more than 30,000 users to the waitlist by the end of FY26.
The timing is notable as smart eyewear gains momentum globally. Smart-glasses shipments jumped more than 1,000% in 2025, according to IDC data cited by Inc42. For Lenskart, increasing its AjnaLens stake gives it a closer link to the underlying XR and AI capabilities that could shape this next category — turning glasses from largely passive products into connected computing devices.
