For most software companies, customers and investors sit on opposite sides of the business. Docterz has managed to overlap the two. The healthcare technology company has raised ₹5 crore from around 35 investors, with nearly 60% of the capital coming from doctors who already use its platform.
Around 20 doctor-users contributed close to ₹3 crore to the round. The investor group also includes SUGAR Cosmetics cofounder and CEO Vineeta Singh and CaratLane cofounder and former CEO Avnish Anand. The company has not disclosed a valuation or detailed terms of the fundraise.
Founded more than a decade ago by practising paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, Docterz builds software for running medical practices. Its platform combines electronic medical records, appointment scheduling, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement, and currently supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence in paediatrics.
The fresh capital will be used to expand organically, explore potential acquisitions and reach more independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations. Docterz also plans to build practical AI-enabled tools for areas such as clinical documentation, administrative workflows, practice-data analysis and patient follow-ups.
The company says privacy, patient-data security and clinical independence will remain central as those tools are introduced. Its approach is designed around helping doctors manage the operational side of a practice without positioning software as a replacement for medical judgement.
What makes this round unusual is not its size but who supplied much of the capital. Doctors who have experienced the product inside their own clinics are now financially backing its next phase. For Docterz, the next test is whether that user trust can translate into wider adoption — and whether its upcoming AI tools can genuinely remove administrative work without complicating the doctor-patient relationship.
