Mumbai-based organic ingredients company Suminter India Organics has raised Rs 25 crore in debt financing from BlackSoil Capital, a move aimed at scaling up its sourcing operations and deepening its reach with smallholder farmers.

About the Funding

The fresh capital will be used to source high-quality organic ingredients at a larger scale, according to the company. It will also help Suminter strengthen ties with the more than 100,000 smallholder farmers it works with across India, the Philippines, and Africa.

The debt round from BlackSoil Capital comes as global demand for certified organic and sustainably sourced food ingredients continues to rise, pushing companies like Suminter to expand their supply chains further.

About Suminter India Organics

Founded in 2003, Suminter India Organics runs a farm-to-market platform that spans sourcing, certification, processing, and international distribution of organic produce. The company is led by Sameer Mehra.

Suminter works directly with smallholder farmers to help them meet global demand for organic goods, while aiming to bring greater economic stability to the farming communities it partners with.

Product Portfolio and Reach

The company supplies a wide range of certified organic and sustainably sourced ingredients to food and ingredient businesses across the US, Europe, and other international markets, including:

·        Spices

·        Coconut products

·        Oilseeds

·        Cocoa

·        Sweeteners

·        Natural fibres

Its platform is built to offer full traceability and quality assurance across the supply chain — from farm to final product.

Focus on Regenerative Farming

Beyond sourcing and distribution, Suminter places emphasis on regenerative farming practices. The company's model is designed to improve farmer livelihoods by connecting smallholders directly with international food and feed markets, cutting out inefficiencies in traditional supply chains.

What's Next

With the new debt funding in place, Suminter plans to expand its sourcing operations further and scale up its ability to meet growing international demand for certified organic and sustainably sourced ingredients.
