StockGro is repositioning itself around a problem founder Ajay Lakhotia believes Indianinvesting still hasn’t solved: deciding what to invest in. While brokers have made executing a trade relatively simple, StockGro is building a research and discovery layer combining verified analysts, social investing and artificial intelligence to help users evaluate ideas before committing capital.
The platform’s roots were in social investing, where users could interact with investors and educators while testing strategies using virtual portfolios. That model first spread through colleges and business schools before StockGro moved deeper into regulated investment research. Lakhotia says the platform now hosts more than 150 SEBI-registered analysts publishing over 2,000 trade calls each month, with their historical performance tracked for users to review.
StockGro’s next layer is AI. The company says it has built around 80 AI agents trained across more than five billion parameters, after finding general-purpose AI models insufficient for market-specific research requiring current financial context. Its AI research product sits alongside analyst recommendations, portfolio comparisons and strategy-testing tools rather than fully automating the investment decision.
The business uses subscriptions instead of earning based on how frequently users trade. Plans start at roughly ₹200 a month, while higher tiers provide additional research and AI capabilities. Lakhotia says this structure is intended to align StockGro’s revenue with users continuing to value its research rather than encouraging higher trading volumes. The company says nearly 80% of its users are between 20 and 35.
StockGro is also exploring expansion beyond India, with the Middle East as its first international market, while considering a managed fund for users who eventually want less hands-on involvement. After raising ₹150 crore in Series B funding in December 2025 and another $13 million from BITKRAFT Ventures later that month, the company’s bigger bet is becoming clear: as trading execution gets commoditised, the valuable layer may increasingly be the research and conviction that come before the trade.
