Shiprocket shares ended their first trading session nearly 48% above the IPO issue price on August 19, giving investors a strong debut for the e-commerce enablement company.

The stock closed at ₹143.50 on the BSE against its issue price of ₹97, while it ended at ₹143.10 on the NSE. The shares had listed at ₹129.50 on the BSE and ₹131 on the NSE, according to Inc42.

The BSE closing price represented a gain of about 48% from the IPO price. During the session, Shiprocket shares touched an intraday high of ₹155.50, taking the gain from the issue price to more than 60%.

The strong debut followed heavy demand during the public offering. Shiprocket’s ₹1,617.5 crore IPO was subscribed 99.38 times, with investors bidding for 938.53 crore shares against 9.44 crore shares on offer. Qualified institutional buyers led the subscription at 122.8 times.

Shiprocket had fixed the IPO price band at ₹92 to ₹97 per share. At the upper end of the band, the company was seeking a valuation of around ₹7,000 crore, which was about 30% below the valuation it commanded during its December 2024 private funding round.

The company raised ₹885.5 crore through the fresh issue, while around ₹732 crore came through an offer for sale by existing shareholders. The fresh capital is intended to support growth initiatives, including marketing, technology infrastructure, debt repayment and other corporate requirements.

Shiprocket operates as an e-commerce enablement platform for online sellers and businesses, providing services across shipping, logistics and related digital commerce requirements.

The listing also changed the company's market valuation significantly. Shiprocket’s market capitalisation stood at about ₹10,440.7 crore at the end of the first trading session, according to Inc42.

The IPO also produced different outcomes for existing investors. Inc42 reported that early backer 500 Global recorded a gross return of 77.6 times on the shares it sold through the offer for sale, while Lightrock and Moore Strategic Ventures sold at losses.

The strong first-day performance comes despite Shiprocket remaining loss-making. The company reported operating revenue of ₹2,024 crore in FY26, up 24% year-on-year, while its net loss widened 6.8% to ₹79 crore.

The next test for Shiprocket will be whether the company can convert its strong market debut and growing revenue base into sustained profitability. Investors will also watch trading volumes and the stock’s ability to hold its listing gains after the initial IPO enthusiasm fades.
