Sachin Bansal-led fintech company Navi has raised $100 million from global technology investor Prosus in its first institutional funding round, giving the company fresh capital as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
Navi said the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India.
The investment is Navi's first institutional capital raise since the company was founded. The company has not disclosed the valuation at which Prosus is investing, the stake being acquired or a detailed allocation plan for the new capital.
For Navi, the funding arrives as the company expands across lending and digital payments. The fintech was founded in 2018 by Sachin Bansal and Ankit Agarwal and offers financial products including loans, insurance, mutual funds and UPI payments.
Bansal said Prosus's investment was particularly meaningful because of his long association with Naspers and the Prosus Group. He described the investment as an endorsement of the institution Navi is building.
Prosus said it was backing Navi because of its user base, multiple business lines and technology-led approach. Ashutosh Sharma, head of Prosus India investments and M&A, said Navi had executed well over the previous year despite a difficult macroeconomic environment.
The investment also comes as Navi is reportedly preparing to revive its public-market ambitions. Earlier reports indicated that the company could refile draft IPO documents with the Securities and Exchange Board of India by December 2026 for a proposed issue of around ₹3,000 crore.
Navi's potential IPO would be its second attempt to access the public markets. The company had filed draft papers with SEBI in 2022 for a ₹3,350 crore IPO but later shelved the plan amid unfavourable market conditions.
The proposed listing would give public-market investors exposure to a fintech business that has expanded beyond its original lending focus. Navi now operates across lending, payments, insurance and investment products.
Navi Finserv, its lending arm, reported a standalone net profit of ₹292.21 crore in FY26, up 31.64% from ₹221.97 crore in FY25. Its revenue from operations increased 8.36% to ₹2,461 crore during the year, according to financial data reported by Business Standard.
The lending business also continued to expand its asset base. CRISIL said Navi Finserv's total managed assets reached ₹22,685 crore in March 2026, compared with ₹14,094 crore a year earlier.
At the consolidated level, Navi's financial picture was more challenging. The Economic Times reported that Navi's FY26 consolidated net loss widened to ₹466 crore from ₹126 crore in FY25, with increased investment in UPI and other newer businesses contributing to the higher loss.
That contrast between the profitable lending arm and the group's consolidated losses is an important factor for investors to consider as Navi moves towards a potential IPO. The company is attempting to build businesses beyond its established lending franchise while continuing to invest in payments and technology.
The Prosus investment therefore gives Navi additional institutional backing at a significant stage in its development. It also places a major global technology investor alongside Bansal as the company works towards its next growth phase.
The immediate milestones are regulatory clearance for the Prosus transaction and Navi's potential IPO filing. If the company proceeds with the reported public offering, its ability to demonstrate sustainable growth and profitability across its wider portfolio will become a central focus for investors.
