Indian artificial intelligence startup Sarvam is already back in funding discussions, just four months after raising more than $300 million at a $1.5 billion valuation. This time, the Bengaluru- based company could emerge with a valuation twice as large.
Sarvam is in talks to raise another $250–300 million at a valuation of around $3 billion, according to people familiar with the discussions. If completed at that level, the transaction could make Sarvam one of India’s most highly valued homegrown AI startups. The deal remainsunder discussion and has not yet been finalised.
The potential top-up follows Sarvam’s Series B announced in June. The company said it raised $234 million in the first close of a planned $300 million round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation, with HCLTech and Bessemer Venture Partners joining existing investors Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners.
Founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam is building across the AI stack, including model research, training and inference infrastructure, and applications for enterprises and government. Its focus includes Indian-language AI and models designed for use cases such as agentic systems, coding and cybersecurity.
Its commercial footprint already includes customers such as LIC, SBI Life, IDFC First Bank,Tata Capital and Cred. Maharashtra has also approved deployment of Sarvam’s Indus AI workspace across government departments for tasks including drafting, translation and document analysis, with government data hosted within India.
The proposed round therefore comes at a pivotal moment for India’s sovereign AI ambitions. Sarvam is attempting to build not merely another AI application, but models, infrastructure and deployment capabilities designed around Indian languages, enterprises and public institutions. If the new financing closes at the reported terms, the headline will be difficult to miss: Sarvam’s valuation could have doubled in only four months.
