Sanlayan Technologies Turns Profitable as Revenue Jumps 5.6X

Defence and aerospace startup Sanlayan Technologies posted a sharp financial turnaround in FY26, with operating revenue jumping 5.6X to ₹125 crore from ₹22 crore a year earlier. The Bengaluru-based company also swung into profitability, reporting a ₹25 crore profit compared with a ₹4 crore loss in FY25.

Founded in 2023 by former Zetwerk executives Abhijit Kothawale, Rohan Gala and Rahul Vamsidhar, Sanlayan develops electronic systems for aerospace and defence applications. Its portfolio spans radar, electronic warfare, avionics, power electronics and mission-critical embedded systems, with customers including HAL, BEL, DRDO, the Indian Armed Forces and private defence integrators.

Electronic systems remained the company’s primary revenue source during the year. Sanlayan ended FY26 with an order backlog of ₹286 crore and a confirmed opportunity pipeline exceeding ₹2,000 crore. It also recently secured a ₹70 crore-plus production order for the Uttam AESA Radar programme, alongside development work involving drone-detection radar and electronic warfare systems.

Growth came with higher costs as Sanlayan expanded operations. Total expenditure rose to ₹104 crore from ₹29 crore in FY25, while material costs increased to ₹43.24 crore and employee expenses reached ₹39.51 crore. Despite this, faster revenue growth helped EBITDA margin improve to 20.54%, while the company spent about ₹0.83 for every rupee of operating revenue generated.

Sanlayan is now expanding both manufacturing and engineering capacity, including a 20,000 sq ft Bengaluru facility and more than 100 new engineers across systems, RF and AI/ML. Backed by investors including Jungle Ventures, the startup’s FY26 performance shows how India’s defence-tech opportunity is increasingly moving from development-stage projects towards larger production programmes and commercial scale.
