Quantum cybersecurity startup QNu Labs has raised ₹200 crore, or around $21 million, in a
Series A1 round co-led by the government-backed National Quantum Mission and Speciale
Invest. Sony Innovation Fund, Gaja Capital and Artha Ventures also participated, taking the
Bengaluru-based company’s total funding to ₹375 crore.
QNu plans to deploy the fresh capital across research and development, sales, go-to-market
expansion and strategic partnerships. The company will also invest in internal processes, IT and
automation as it shifts from a largely technology-development phase toward what cofounder and
CEO Sunil Gupta describes as a “proof-of-scale” business.
Founded in 2016 by Gupta and Srinivasa Rao Aluri, QNu is building cybersecurity products
designed to protect data and communications from future quantum-computing threats. Its
portfolio spans quantum random number generation, quantum key distribution and post-
quantum cryptography, while its quantum-safe VPN is currently among its most in-demand
products.
The company is also expanding its product stack through QShield 2.0, which helps enterprises
discover and assess existing cryptographic assets before migrating toward quantum-safe
systems. Beyond enterprise security, QNu is developing solutions for drones and satellites, with
its drone-security technology already undergoing pilots and expected to serve defence
applications.
Part of the funding will also help QNu meet the matching-capital requirement for a ₹150 crore
project awarded under the government’s Research, Development and Innovation Fund. With
around 180 employees and an international presence spanning Australia and the US, QNu is
now moving from building quantum-security technology toward commercial scale. As
businesses begin preparing for post-quantum migration, the bigger test will be whether QNu can
convert its early technology lead into a broader enterprise cybersecurity platform.
