Minimac Systems Raises ₹30 Cr to Scale Lubricant Recycling

Pune-based industrial deeptech startup Minimac Systems has raised ₹30 crore, or around $3.2 million, in a fresh funding round led by Zerodha-backed Rainmatter. The company will use the capital to expand its lubricant recycling and circularity infrastructure across India while investing further in technology and operations.

Founded in 2012 by Anshuman Agrawal, Minimac focuses on extending the usable life of industrial lubricants rather than replacing them unnecessarily. Its model covers lubricant-condition monitoring, restoration of recoverable oil and routing unusable lubricant to registered re-refiners, creating a more circular lifecycle for industrial fluids.

A key part of its business is “Recycling on Wheels”, where mobile treatment systems are taken directly to factories and industrial plants. These units can assess and restore lubricant onsite, reducing the need to transport used oil to separate treatment facilities. The new funding will help Minimac expand this service through regional hubs while strengthening fluid analytics, fleet automation and miniaturised treatment infrastructure.

Minimac claims to have deployed more than 2,500 fluid-treatment systems with a combined processing capacity exceeding 3 lakh litres per minute. It has worked across more than 2,200 industrial assets and says it has kept over 14 million litres of lubricant in productive use. Customers include NTPC, Adani Power, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Indian Oil and Reliance Industries.

The opportunity is sizeable. India is the world’s third-largest lubricant market, consuming more than 5 million tonnes annually while importing over 60% of its base-oil requirement. Minimac’s model therefore sits at the intersection of industrial efficiency, import dependence and sustainability. With fresh capital behind it, the next challenge will be taking lubricant restoration from a specialised industrial service to infrastructure that can operate at scale across India’s major manufacturing clusters.
