Clean-tech startup Leanwatts has raised $2 million, or around ₹18 crore, in a seed funding round led by Trivest Partners. Angel investors Abraham George and Alok Rungta also participated. The fresh capital will be used to accelerate research and development, strengthen the company’s supply chain and expand its manufacturing capabilities.
Founded in 2023 by Abhilash Reddy, Pradeep Chowdary and Sujith Kumar, Leanwatts designs and manufactures power-electronics products for electric vehicle manufacturers. Its portfolio includes portable and onboard EV chargers ranging from 500W to 6.6kW, catering to electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and tractors.
The startup has built in-house capabilities across hardware design, embedded firmware, software, product engineering and testing. Leanwatts currently operates a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and plans to use the funding to increase localisation while building a more reliable supply chain for India-engineered power electronics.
Leanwatts is also looking beyond its current charger portfolio. The company plans to enter public EV charging, rectifiers, power modules, hybrid inverters and other power-conversion applications. With these additions and increased manufacturing capacity, it is targeting an annualised revenue run rate of nearly ₹60 crore by March 2027.
The raise comes as India continues to expand its charging infrastructure. The country had 29,151 EV charging stations as of December 2025, including 8,805 fast-charging stations. For Leanwatts, however, the opportunity is not only in deploying chargers but in building more of the power electronics behind India’s EV transition locally. The next test will be turning its engineering capabilities into manufacturing scale while meeting its ambitious ₹60 crore revenue target
