IPO-bound digital entertainment company Kuku Technologies turned profitable in FY26 as operating revenue jumped to ₹1,484.2 crore, compared with ₹241.5 crore a year earlier. The Bengaluru-based company, which operates Kuku TV and audio storytelling platform Kuku FM, reported a net profit of ₹182.7 crore, reversing a ₹152.6 crore loss in FY25.

The profit figure comes with an important qualification. FY26 net profit included a ₹98.2 crore deferred tax credit, while profit before tax stood at ₹88.6 crore. Total expenses rose sharply to ₹1,421.8 crore from ₹411 crore, with marketing and advertising spending climbing almost fourfold to ₹1,105.1 crore as Kuku invested heavily in scaling its microdrama business. Subscriptions generated nearly all of the company’s operating revenue, contributing ₹1,475.4 crore. Pay-per-piece purchases through virtual coins brought in ₹6.9 crore, while advertising contributed ₹1.9 crore. India accounted for ₹1,463.6 crore — roughly 99% of operating revenue — with international markets contributing ₹20.5 crore.

Kuku’s growth has coincided with the rapid expansion of short, mobile-first serialised dramas. The company says it currently creates around 500 shows a month and is using AI across ideation, scripting, production and distribution, with plans to scale content output further. Kuku also operates StoRizz, Guru, Filmy and FreeDrama alongside Kuku TV and Kuku FM. The numbers arrive as Kuku moves closer to the public markets. The company filed confidentially for an IPO in June and has since received SEBI approval to proceed with the

process. Moneycontrol previously reported that Kuku is considering an issue of ₹2,500–3,500 crore at a targeted valuation of around ₹15,000 crore, though the eventual offer size and valuation remain subject to the formal IPO process.
