Funding activity across India’s startup ecosystem picked up sharply in the third week of August, with 19 startups raising a combined $233.2 million between August 17 and 21. The total was 67% higher than the $139.5 million raised by 12 startups in the previous week, signalling a noticeable pickup in investor activity.
The biggest cheque of the week went to fintech company Navi, which secured $100 million from global investment firm Prosus. The deal alone accounted for a significant share of the week’s total funding. BookMyShow followed with a reported $40 million raise, while CtrlS DataCenters secured $26.1 million and hardware startup NeoGeo raised $20 million in its Series A round.
Fintech emerged as the strongest sector during the week, attracting $112.5 million across Navi and Rezolv. Consumer services came next with $47.2 million, supported largely by BookMyShow’s fundraise. Other sectors including healthtech, advanced hardware, ecommerce, cleantech and AI also saw fresh capital flow into early and growth-stage companies.
Early-stage funding remained active as well, with nine seed and pre-Series A startups raising around $9.3 million across disclosed deals. Companies such as Peeko, LISSUN, Greenjoules, First Coffee and DeHaat Honest Farms were among the startups securing capital during the week.
The week also brought momentum on the IPO front. Consumer appliance startup Atomberg filed its DRHP with SEBI for a public issue that includes a fresh issue of up to ₹450 crore, while Upstox began preliminary discussions with investment bankers for a potential $400 million IPO. Together, the rise in funding and increasing public-market activity point to improving momentum across India’s startup ecosystem as companies pursue both private and public capital.
