Hyundai and TVS have begun testing Blue Move, an EV ride-hailing platform in Delhi-NCR, signalling a bigger push into India's fast-growing electric mobility market.

Selling electric vehicles is no longer enough. As India's EV market matures, automakers are looking beyond manufacturing and towards mobility services and Hyundai and TVS are taking an early step in that direction.

The two companies have kicked off a pilot for Blue Move, an electric ride-hailing platform currently being tested in Delhi-NCR. While the rollout is limited for now, the initiative reflects a broader ambition: building an integrated electric mobility ecosystem instead of simply putting more EVs on the road.

The pilot follows the strategic partnership announced by Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor earlier this year to jointly develop electric three-wheelers for India's last-mile transportation market. Blue Move is the first real-world test of that collaboration.

Initially, the service is being offered to a selected group of Hyundai employees around the company's Gurugram headquarters. Operating within a limited radius, the pilot is designed to evaluate vehicle performance, user experience and operational efficiency before any wider expansion is considered.

Hyundai has developed the Blue Move application, while TVS is supplying the electric three-wheelers powering the service. The vehicles feature an enclosed cabin, air conditioning, a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital dashboard, offering a more premium commuting experience than conventional auto-rickshaws. During the testing phase, rides are being provided free of cost to encourage participation and gather user feedback.

The timing is significant. India's ride-hailing market is rapidly evolving as consumers increasingly embrace electric mobility, creating opportunities for both technology companies and vehicle manufacturers. Rather than competing solely as automakers, companies are now exploring ways to participate across the entire mobility value chain from building EVs to operating the platforms that connect riders.

Although Hyundai and TVS have not announced a commercial launch timeline, Blue Move highlights a changing strategy in the industry. The future of mobility may belong to companies that don't just manufacture electric vehicles, but also shape how people use them every day. By combining connected technology with electric transportation, the partnership is positioning itself for the next chapter of India's mobility transformation.
