Nazara Technologies is entering a new leadership phase. Founder Nitish Mittersain has stepped down as managing director and moved into the role of founder and non-executive director, marking another step back from day-to-day management after he relinquished the CEO position earlier this year. He will continue providing strategic guidance to the board.

The gaming company has simultaneously elevated CaratLane founder Mithun Sacheti to Whole- time and Executive Director for a five-year term. Sacheti joined Nazara’s board earlier in 2026 and will now oversee strategic initiatives while taking on operational responsibilities. Nazara said his experience spans consumer businesses, digital ecosystems and brand building.

The reshuffle extends beyond the founder’s office. CFO Rakesh Shah, who has been with azara since 2010, is leaving to pursue external opportunities and will be replaced by former Ness Digital Engineering global CFO Arun Agrawal. Whole-time Director Rohit Sharma will also step down from January 1, 2027, to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.

The changes arrive during one of Nazara’s biggest strategic transitions. Earlier this year, it restructured its acquisition of Spanish gaming businesses Bluetile Games and BestPlay Systems into a 100% purchase for a fixed $303 million consideration. Bluetile founder Raymond Stauffer subsequently took over from Mittersain as Nazara’s CEO on September 1. Together, Bluetile and BestPlay generated nearly ₹1,400 crore in calendar-year 2025 revenue.

Nazara is also navigating pressure closer to home. Its Q1 FY27 operating revenue declined14% year-on-year to ₹428.8 crore, while the company reported a net loss of ₹82.5 crore. With major acquisitions being integrated and several senior roles changing hands, Nazara’s latest reshuffle looks less like a routine board update and more like a broader handover from founder- led management to a new operating structure.
