Electric mobility startup Bounce is returning to its roots in scooter rentals, this time with a fleet of

electric two-wheelers manufactured in-house. The Bengaluru-based company is close to

deploying 14,000 scooters through its rental business and is expected to reach 20,000 units

soon, marking a renewed push toward recurring revenue rather than outright vehicle sales.

The shift is already visible in Bounce’s FY26 numbers. Consolidated operating revenue stood at

₹44.05 crore, with rental services contributing ₹35.78 crore — roughly 81% of the total. The

rental operation is now generating an annualised revenue run rate of around $15 million,

according to people familiar with the company’s performance.

Bounce Daily is primarily targeting gig and delivery workers who need access to two-wheelers

without the upfront cost of owning one. Unlike rental operators dependent on external

manufacturers, Bounce controls vehicle design, manufacturing and maintenance itself. The

company believes this full-stack model can reduce spare-part dependence, shorten downtime

and improve economics as fleet utilisation rises.

Profitability, however, needs some context. Bounce reported consolidated EBITDA of ₹9.59

crore in FY26, but this included non-cash items such as a GST input-credit write-back. After

adjusting for these items and ESOP costs, consolidated adjusted EBITDA remained negative at

₹1.83 crore, while net loss stood at ₹5.48 crore. The standalone rental business, meanwhile,

posted EBITDA of ₹9.23 crore.

The latest operating performance suggests rentals have continued improving beyond the FY26

base. With nearly 14,000 scooters already deployed and a path toward 20,000, Bounce’s next

test is fleet utilisation. If it can keep scooters on the road, control maintenance costs and sustain

demand from gig workers, the recurring rental model could prove more durable than its earlier

consumer EV sales strategy.
