Indian medtech company AyuSynk has launched Heart Sound AI, a software-based system designed to analyse recorded heart sounds and assist healthcare professionals in identifying the presence or absence of a heart murmur. The product was unveiled on World Heart Day at SINE, IIT Bombay. AyuSynk describes it as India’s first CDSCO-approved software-as-a-medical-device for AI-based heart murmur detection; that “first” designation is a company claim.

Heart Sound AI works alongside AyuSynk’s connected digital stethoscope ecosystem. A clinician records heart sounds digitally, after which the software analyses the signal and provides an AI-assisted assessment. The company’s existing devices can amplify heart and lung sounds, create phonocardiogram waveforms, save recordings and share them with other clinicians for review.

The intended role is screening support rather than autonomous diagnosis. AyuSynk’s product documentation states that its digital stethoscope is intended for healthcare professionals and is not designed for self-diagnosis. Recordings and generated reports can also be shared remotely, potentially allowing a frontline clinician to capture a heart sound while a specialist reviews it elsewhere.

That could be particularly relevant where cardiology expertise is not available at the point of initial examination. Murmurs can indicate abnormal blood flow and may prompt further clinical assessment, but detecting one does not by itself establish a specific cardiac diagnosis. AyuSynk is therefore positioning its AI as another layer of support during auscultation rather than a replacement for echocardiography, specialist interpretation or broader clinical evaluation.

The launch reflects a wider shift in medical AI from analysing large imaging systems toward augmenting familiar frontline tools. For AyuSynk, the opportunity lies in combining digital recording, AI-assisted screening and remote specialist collaboration inside a workflow clinicians already understand. Its longer-term impact will depend on real-world diagnostic performance, adoption by healthcare providers and how reliably the system works across different patients and clinical environments .
