Every founder eventually returns to the same well after a big exit, and for Ashneer Grover, that well keeps circling back to lending. The BharatPe cofounder announced his latest venture this week, Fund My Staff, a platform built on a simple but underexplored idea: let employers vouch for their employees' loans instead of employees fighting the credit system alone.

The mechanics are refreshingly straightforward. Employers onboard staff onto the platform, set eligible loan limits, and review requests before agreeing to act as guarantors, without ever handing over the loan money themselves. Employees can also flip the process and initiate a request directly, which then routes to their employer for approval. Once sanctioned, funds are disbursed by the lending partner and repaid through standard monthly EMIs. It's essentially formal credit access for the large chunk of India's workforce that banks routinely overlook simply because they lack a credit history.

Structurally, Fund My Staff positions itself as a Lending Service Provider under RBI's digital lending guidelines, with actual loans originated by Ash Grove Capital, an RBI-registered NBFC that's part of Grover's own group. The platform runs under Third Unicorn, the venture Grover built with his wife Madhuri Jain Grover and cofounder Aseem Ghavri after his BharatPe exit, the same house behind ZeroPe, its medical-financing arm still operating today, and CrickPe, the fantasy cricket experiment that shut down last year.

What makes this launch notable isn't just Grover's name attached to it, it's the bet that workplace trust can substitute for traditional collateral in India's credit-thin economy. Whether employers actually want the added liability of guaranteeing their staff's personal loans is the real question the market will now answer, one EMI cycle at a time.
